The SEDOL Governing Board and Executive Board are very pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Valerie M. Donnan as the new Superintendent effective July 1, 2018.  Mrs. Donnan is currently the Assistant Superintendent of Special Services for Wauconda Community Unit District #118, and she will replace Dr. Tom Moline who is retiring after seven years at SEDOL.  Over the past several months, the Executive Board has worked in conjunction with member district administrators, parents and staff to find a strong and caring leader who will guide SEDOL in the evaluation and refinement of programs and lead in the development of new programs that meet the needs of SEDOL member districts and their students.

 

Mrs. Donnan knows SEDOL programs very well as she worked at SEDOL prior to going to District #11 8  in July 2011.  After student teaching at Gages Lake School in 2002, she was a teacher of students with behavior disorders at the school from 2003-06.  Mrs. Donnan also gained experience as a curriculum lead, a sector lead and program supervisor prior to going to Wauconda.

 

Mrs. Donnan received a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education (1999) and a Master’s Degree in Education (2002) from Barat College/DeKalb University.  She received her Director of Special Education Endorsement from Aurora University in 2014, and she is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Education from Concordia University.
