Social Work & Counselors

What are School Social Workers & Counselors?

School Social Workers and Counselors are a vital part of the student’s educational team.  They provide insight to assist students through understanding and interpreting the influences of the school, home, and community on children’s development. School Social Workers and Counselors provide direct services to students through individual and/or group counseling, crisis intervention, consultation, and referrals to community agencies.  They are part of the assessment process for special education and provide consultation to the educational team.
