Mrs. Settle

Welcome to the High School Pod!

My name is Debbie Settle and I am excited to be your child's teacher for this year.  I have had the pleasure of working at Laremont since February 2004.   Prior to working with Laremont I was a teacher for Spring-Ford School District located in Royersford, Pa, SunnySide School District located in Tucson, Az and Rome City School District located in Rome, New York.   I have my undergraduate degree from SUNY Plattsburgh and Masters from University of Phoenix.  I am the proud mom of three beautiful children (ages 33, 21 & 18), two granddaughters (6 & 3) and 2 wonderful fur babies!  When not at Laremont I am  Warren High School hockey mom and part-time crafter!  (At least trying to learn!!)

I strive to have an open communication with families as I believe you are your student's voice.   You will receive daily notes and a monthly calendar to keep you up to date on all the activities in our class/school.

To support my class this year, I have two skilled para-pros: Jennifer Sances and Jodi Goodsite.  We also work with Jill Goldberg (Speech), Sharon O'Reilly (PT), Deborah Olson (OT), Jim Ross (Voc coach), Chrisann Herda (Vision), Michelle Sator(Hearing),  & Joanne Polifka (Nursing)

The High School pod follows the Unique Curriculum.  This curriculum follows the state guidelines and provides a balance of science, history, math and language arts.  Once a month we will go out into the community where we will practice our social skills as well as various transition goals.  We work with the Transition Pod on various Vocational skills as well as Choice Groups. On Monday and Thursday afternoons we all participate in Vocational/JOFA (Job Opportunities for All)  On Fridays the students are to pick a desired activity from a choice of five!

Some of our special events in High School include Homecoming (October), Prom (May) and of course Graduation (May) to name just a few.  High School is such a fun time for us and the students.  Thank you for letting us celebrate and grow with your student.
