Superintendent Search

The SEDOL Executive Board approved a contract in April with Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates (HYA) to support the search for the district's next superintendent to start July 1, 2026

At the October 23, 2025 Executive Board Meeting, Dr. Brian Harris and Dr. Karen Sullivan from Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates (HYA) provided a status update on the Superintendent Search process.
During the presentation, HYA shared themes that emerged from focus groups and surveys involving SEDOL staff, parents/guardians, and member district representatives. These themes highlighted:

  • Strengths of SEDOL
  • Challenges and issues facing SEDOL
  • Immediate and future priorities for the organization
  • Desired characteristics of the next Superintendent

During the closed session of the same meeting, Dr. Harris and Dr. Sullivan presented the SEDOL Executive Board with a slate of qualified candidates for consideration.

Next Steps:
The SEDOL Executive Board will conduct interviews with superintendent candidates in November. A finalist will then be recommended to the Governing Board for approval at its meeting on December 3, 2025.

Summer 2025- SEDOL Executive & Governing Board members interviewed by HYA; Superintendent leadership profile developed 

August 2025- SEDOL Superintendent position posted and promoted by HYA  LINK

August-September 2025- Online Survey and forums scheduled for stakeholders and community members

September 2025- Focus groups and interviews with key stakeholder groups

October 2025- Executive Board reviews applicants

October 23, 2025- Leadership Profile Report presented / Slate of candidates presented to Executive Board

October-November, 2025- Executive Board meeting to identify finalists; Executive Board interviews of semi-finalists

November-December 2025- Executive Board recommendation meeting

December 3, 2025- Projected date for Governing Board approval; public announcement

July 1, 2026- Superintendent assumes responsibilities
