Students participate in activities with grade-level peers on the Hawthorn District 73 North Campus.
John Powers Center uses Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to help students know what type of behavior is expected in various settings throughout the school. Students are directly taught the expectations of PBIS - being Safe, Responsible, and Respectful.
Lunch & RecessStudents from first through eighth grades eat lunch within the Hawthorn District 73 Schools. Early childhood and kindergarten students eat lunch at John Powers Center. Early childhood and kindergarten students play within the fenced-in playground adjacent on the west-side of John Powers Center. First through fifth grades have a 20-minute recess on the Hawthorn playgrounds, either before or after lunch.A link to the lunch menu is located in the Quick Links on this page.
Activities & AthleticsStudents can participate in extracurricular activities within Hawthorn District 73 Schools. Please note that students at the middle school level have the opportunity to participate in after school athletic activities and must try-out for many of the sports. If your child is interested, be aware of the timelines.Please click on the Quick Links to the left for more information about activities at your child's grade level.
