Miss Sam Magid

My name is Sammie Magid, and I am one of the middle school teachers here at John Powers Center! I grew up in the area and was able to observe at John Powers in high school. Since seeing these teachers do such fantastic things with their students, I decided to go into the field of Deaf Education.

I graduated from Illinois State University in 2017 with my Bachelors in Deaf Education. I have worked with ages from early childhood to eighth grade since then in itinerant, resource, co-taught classrooms and self-contained settings in and around the Chicagoland area. I am a certified K-12 Reading Teacher with endorsements in 5-8 Language Arts and Social Sciences. I received my master's from National Louis University in 2021 in Teaching, Learning, and Assessment and my Special Education (LBS 1) Certificate. I am currently pursuing my doctorate in Linguistic Diversity and Equity.
