The teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) assists the educational team in understanding the unique needs and characteristics of the visually impaired student. Assists the educational team in making environmental adjustments in school. Provides assistence to classroom teacher for activities that require adaptation. Assure that supplementary materials/equipment is provided for the students, as appropriate, to ensure maximum participation in classroom activities. Consults with educational team to determine appropriate testing materials and modifications that may be needed. Provide specialized instruction in utilizing residual vision based on student's assessed needs, IEP goals, functional and motivational levels. Instruction to educational team about eye conditions, using equipment and adaptations.
