Laremont Intermediate Teacher

“If they can't learn the way we teach, we teach the way they learn."

- O. Ivar Lovaas

Welcome to Andre Probst's Room 206!  I am a part of the Intermediate pod, and I have students who are typically in 3rd through 5th grades.  In my class, I want my students to learn skills to make them as independent as possible.

In my class, students work on functional daily living skills, prevocational work skills, curriculum, arts and crafts, cooking, and other skills.  We use an adpted version of the Unique Learning Curriculum.  Our curriculum topics change monthly.

Our curriculum allows our class to experience activities that involve Reading, Writing, Math Social Studies, and Science. Each week, we read stories and answer curriculum questions, do math counting activities, and participate in curriculum groups.  Our Intermediate pod participates in Functional Academic Groups.  The students are split into four different groups that pertain to math and science: Cooking, which relates to measurement and cooking; Math Survey, which works on counting and data collection; Math Numbers, which relates to number recognition; and Experiment, which focuses on science. Our other weekly groups are Intermediate Curriculum Groups.

Once a month, we go into the community on mobility.  We work on appropriate behavior while in the community, socialization skills, ordering food, and purchasing items.

As always, if you need anything, please feel free to contact me at 847-986-2508 and/or at aprobst@sedol.us.

Have a great day!

Andre Probst
